Dr. Anjana Agarwal advocates that good nutrition in time not only prevents the onset of diseases but also speedup the recovery of the disease.
Dr. Anjana Agarwal is the first author of a book (Text book of Human Nutrition, 2014, pp 696). She had taught nutrition and dietetics subjects to graduate and postgraduate students in different colleges of SNDT women’s university Mumbai and Biomedical College, Dehradun for more than 15 years. In addition she keeps giving dietary counseling to people suffering from various diseases.
She mostly caters diet plans for management of high cholesterol, high triglycerides, diabetes, high and low blood pressure, childhood obesity, PCOD issues, osteoporosis, anorexia, low immunity, malnourished or underweight children and women. She would prefer to guide healthy diet plans to people who are at high risk of any disease by any environmental factors.
During nutritional counseling, she takes extra care to develop the menu plans and recipes which are well suited to the individual taste buds, family cooking style, job schedules as well as availability, acceptability and affordability of food items. She is also ready to provide the nutritional analysis of the diet plans on demand.
She uses another expertise, i.e. Aromatherapy, which is the product of her PhD programme, advanced training, several workshops and dais delivery at many institutional platforms and international seminars.
She keeps evolving in the field of health and nutrition and believes that good health and pathogenesis of disease have many dimensions hence best be managed by judicious combinations of therapies in which diet plays a major role.
Dr. Anjana Agarwal has graduation in home science and post-graduation in Foods and Nutrition from GB pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar (1980) and Doctorate from Lady Irwin College, university of Delhi, New Delhi (1994). She was awarded university scholarships in BSc and MSc and SRF (Senior Research Fellowship) from CSIR in Ph. D. She has also done MA in English literature. She is certified in Advanced Aromatherapy and Basics of computers.
Dr. Anjana Agarwal has wide range of experience, for more than 20 years, in the field of food science and nutrition. She has started her career as Research Associate in Pantnagar, BHU, Varanasi followed by heading the department of home science in a Biomedical College in Dehradun. She went to Mumbai along with family where she had extensively worked in different capacities i.e. visiting faculty for postgraduate students of dietetics etc. and lecturer (in different colleges of SNDT women’s university, Mumbai), coordinator for diabetes educator course and a session in IX Asian Congress of Nutrition at New Delhi. She has independently organized several workshops for training people in Aromatherapy. She has also developed bridge courses in Basics of nutrition.
She has been in-charge for food product development for UK based project for women in pregnancy and a Delhi based NGO. She has been a writer of various research papers, popular articles, manuals and a text book. She has presented numerous communications at national and international seminars and delivered several talks at various educational institutions and corporate organizations on nutrition and aromatherapy. She has also served as nutritionist at TISS in 2011.
Dr. Anjana Agarwal was awarded SRF (Senior Research Fellowship) from CSIR for Ph. D and university scholarships in BSc and MSc.
